UK Progress Atlas is responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy enquiries, contact contact@ukprogressatlas.com.
Information processed
The public Atlas does not require an account. Hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, requests and security or error records needed to deliver and protect the site. The map requests tiles from Stadia Maps, which may receive ordinary technical request information.
Browser preferences
Followed projects, display preferences and which Atlas additions or updates you have seen may be saved in your browser’s local storage. Read indicators expire two hours after first appearing and this local read state is not sent to the Atlas. They stay on your device unless you clear the site’s stored data.
Usage statistics
We use first-party aggregate statistics solely to improve the Atlas. at any time, free of charge. This preference is saved in your browser; declining statistics does not prevent you using the site.
We count page loads, deliberate project openings, observable project links, selected subsequent actions and saved follow/unfollow actions. We also count coarse foreground project-detail attention thresholds, follow-control visibility, local save attempts and failures, discovery actions and loading-time/error categories. Attention is a visibility/time proxy, not proof of reading. We do not collect raw error messages, map movement paths or precise pointer positions. Temporary tab-local state prevents repeated actions being counted as distinct tab visits. It resets after 30 minutes without measured activity or six hours. No visitor or session identifier, fingerprint, IP address, raw search text or full referral URL is stored in the analytics database. We do not retain individual browsing histories or link statistics across devices or visits. Coarse device and referral categories are used. A tab visit is not a unique person.
Events are aggregated immediately into hourly statistical counters. Unlinked retry receipts contain only a random event hash, content hash and receipt time and are removed after seven days during the next collection maintenance. These receipts prevent duplicate processing and cannot retrieve the event’s content. Aggregate counters and the preserved legacy series are retained for trend analysis, reviewed annually. Hosting/security providers may separately process technical connection information to deliver and protect the site.
Optional saved-follow sharing is a separate, default-off consent choice in Following. If enabled, a hashed random browser token and current project list support shared follower totals. Disabling sharing deletes the shared list; local follows continue to work. Shared lists expire after 180 days without a refresh and are removed during subsequent collection maintenance. Previously anonymised aggregate counts cannot be linked back to a browser or erased individually. This processing is separate from advertising and is not used for advertising or decisions about individuals.
Advertising
The site includes Google AdSense code as part of its application to display advertising. If ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, IP addresses or other identifiers to serve and measure ads. See Google’s advertising information. A consent choice will be made available before relevant advertising is activated for UK visitors.
Ko-fi and external links
Support payments take place through Ko-fi and its providers; the Atlas does not receive your full payment-card details. Linked organisations operate their own sites and privacy policies.
Contact and suggestions
If you email us, we process your email address and message to consider and answer the enquiry. The editorial-submission form stores your suggestion and any optional email address in a private review queue. Messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to its processing. Contact contact@ukprogressatlas.com with a request.
