Alyth / Haughend Farm battery storage

The Alyth project would create a 900-megawatt battery storage facility at Haughend Farm in Perth and Kinross. Developed by EcoDev (Alyth), it received Scottish Government consent in November 2024. The batteries would store electricity for later use, with an opening date still to be confirmed.[1]

Benefits

  • The approved 1,800-megawatt-hour storage capacity is equivalent to around two hours of supply at the project’s full output. This would help shift electricity from periods of surplus generation to periods when it is needed.
