Apatura Kilwinning battery storage
Apatura plans a 100-megawatt battery storage facility near Kilwinning in North Ayrshire, east of Old Glasgow Road. The project received planning consent in May 2025. It would store electricity for later use and provide additional flexibility for the wider electricity network.[1][2]
Benefits
- The batteries would store excess renewable electricity and release it when demand rises, helping the grid maintain a reliable supply.
