Beacon Fen Energy Park

Beacon Fen Energy Park is a consented solar and battery-storage development east of Sleaford and north of Heckington, linked to Bicker Fen substation.[1][2]

Current position

Delivery at risk: The legal challenge creates uncertainty over delivery. [3]

Lincolnshire County Council announced on 2 October 2026 that it had submitted a High Court claim challenging the development consent granted in August. Its announcement described the case as awaiting a decision on permission for a full hearing.

Benefits

  • The approved scheme combines up to 400 MW of solar generation with up to 600 MW of battery storage. Low Carbon says the solar output could supply the equivalent of around 130,000 homes and avoid about 72,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
