Birnbeck Pier Restoration

North Somerset Council is restoring the Grade II* listed Birnbeck Pier and associated buildings in Weston-super-Mare after decades of closure.[1][2]

Current position

Four of the pier’s 16 replacement deck spans are in place. The council expects public reopening in summer 2027; later island-building and north-jetty phases have separate timetables.

Benefits

  • The restoration would reopen access to a nationally significant coastal landmark and support Weston-super-Mare’s heritage and visitor economy.
