Braxbess Innerwick battery storage

Energy Hub Developments and Braxbess plan a 650-megawatt battery storage facility at Innerwick in East Lothian. Scottish Ministers granted consent in July 2025. The development would add electricity storage near Scotland’s east coast, allowing power to be kept for use at another time.[1][2]

Benefits

  • The batteries would absorb surplus wind and solar electricity and release it when demand is higher, helping balance supply across the grid.
