Bramford Storage — Clearstone

Clearstone Energy is developing a 400-megawatt battery storage facility outside Bramford, near Ipswich in Suffolk. The approved project would connect beside National Grid’s Bramford substation, which carries power from East Anglia towards London. Clearstone targets operation in 2029.[1][2]

Benefits

  • The batteries would store electricity for later use, helping the network accommodate low-carbon generation in East Anglia and supply homes and businesses when demand rises.
  • The plans include native tree and hedgerow planting, scrub habitat and a wetland area to support wildlife around the site.
