Coalburn 2 is a separate battery phase beside Coalburn 1 in South Lanarkshire.[1]
Current position
CIP took its investment decision in December 2024. AIP agreed to acquire a 50% stake in October 2025, with commissioning targeted for 2027.
Benefits
- 500 MW / 1,000 MWh of battery storage to balance electricity demand and renewable generation.
