Cockenzie A and B battery storage
Work is under way on a battery storage development at Inglis Farm, south of Cockenzie in East Lothian. The scheme brings together two phases with a combined power capacity of 342 megawatts. Groundworks form the first stage of construction, ahead of installing and connecting the batteries to the electricity network.[1]
Benefits
- Located beside the Cockenzie substation, the batteries would store electricity and return it to the network as demand changes, supporting renewable generation and the reliability of supply.
