DLR Fleet Replacement

TfL is introducing 54 new DLR trains with supporting depot works. Fleet introduction is phased; three trains were in passenger service at the October 2026 report.[1]

Current position

Delivery delayed: Full-fleet availability has moved from the earlier end-2026 expectation to end-2028.

Following modifications and testing, passenger service resumed on 7 September 2026. The October report records three trains operating; depot works continue.

Delivered and outstanding

  • The new trains provide walk-through carriages, air conditioning, live information and dedicated wheelchair spaces.
  • Most of the ordered fleet is not yet in passenger service. TfL targets all 54 by end-2028, subject to performance monitoring.
