Dogger Bank Wind Farm A
Dogger Bank A is the first phase of the North Sea wind development, with 95 Haliade-X turbines rated at 13 MW each. The developer describes the phase as approximately 1.2 GW. Electricity reaches the mainland through offshore and onshore converter stations and a high-voltage direct-current transmission system.[1]
Current position
Delivery delayed: The October government consultation reports ongoing turbine remediation, technical defects and resource constraints delaying commissioning beyond earlier forecasts. [3]
Turbine installation finished in February 2026. SSE’s May results forecast commissioning to be substantially complete by the end of 2026. An October government consultation reports continuing turbine remediation and commissioning delays, alongside work to transfer the transmission assets to an independent owner.
Benefits
- The developer installed 328 km of inter-array cables to connect the turbines with the offshore converter station. Dogger Bank A first generated electricity in October 2023, ahead of completion of the full phase.
