Current position

Government has committed £50 million over three years to improve the existing Euston station, beginning with £11 million for seating, waiting areas and toilets; this package is separate from the larger HS2 station-campus programme.

Why it matters

Euston is a combined campus proposal: a new HS2 station, renewal of the existing National Rail station, changes to the Underground interchange and development around them. HS2 remains responsible for the railway approaches and enabling works, while the government is developing a delivery company and financing approach for the station campus.

Benefits

  • The programme is intended to create an integrated interchange and support new homes and commercial and life-sciences development around the station.
