Flemyland battery storage
Flemyland is an approved 100-megawatt battery storage project near Kilwinning in North Ayrshire. Scottish Ministers granted consent in December 2024. The facility would store electricity from the grid for use when it is needed, with the opening date still to be confirmed.[1]
Benefits
- The batteries would help balance electricity supply and demand, supporting the use of renewable power whose output changes with the weather.
