Harland and Wolff Shipyard Extension
Navantia UK is modernising Belfast’s Harland & Wolff shipyard for naval shipbuilding while restarting major commercial cruise-ship repair work at the Queen’s Island facility.[1][2]
Current position
In October 2026, Margaritaville at Sea’s Beachcomber arrived at the Belfast yard for an extensive transformation. The shipyard says this is its largest cruise-ship revitalisation programme since Navantia’s acquisition; the vessel is planned to enter service as the cruise line’s flagship in 2027. Navantia expects around £40 million of Belfast regional economic impact through yard activity, employment and suppliers; this is not the contract price. The sources do not give an exact arrival day.
Benefits
- More efficient production and increased capacity to deliver Fleet Solid Support vessels and other shipbuilding programmes.
