HMNB Clyde Floating Dry Docks

The programme will add three floating dry docks at HMNB Clyde, giving the Royal Navy additional capacity to inspect, maintain and repair its nuclear-powered submarine fleet at Faslane.[1][2]

Current position

The UK-only procurement commitment was announced on 28 September 2026. A shipbuilder has not yet been selected and construction has not started.

Benefits

  • The government committed £6bn of contracts to the three docks and restricted the forthcoming competition to UK-based shipbuilders.
