Ipswich Museum redevelopment

Ipswich Museum’s £12 million redevelopment restores its Victorian building on High Street and renews the galleries and visitor facilities.[1][2]

Current position

The redevelopment is in its final stages, with the return of collections to the galleries ahead of a forecast spring 2027 reopening.

Museum and collections

  • Eight new or upgraded galleries will display the natural history, archaeology and other collections. Work has restored Victorian features and recreated the natural history gallery’s former skylight using LED lighting to protect exhibits from ultraviolet light.
