Legacy Energy Storage System

Innova’s Legacy Energy Storage System is a planned 400 MW grid-scale battery on land north of Bronwylfa Road near Rhostyllen, Wrexham. Planning consent has been granted on appeal; the scheme is not yet under construction.[1][2]

The appeal approval was reported in August 2026. Construction, financing and an operating date have not been confirmed.

The proposed facility would store electricity and release it when required by the grid, connecting via underground cable to the nearby Legacy substation.
