Leighton Hospital redevelopment
Approved plans for a new Leighton Hospital north of the current Crewe campus, at the centre of a wider health and care neighbourhood. The approximately £1.35 billion scheme includes around 102,682m² of accommodation under hybrid consent 25/4703/FUL. Planning approval, infrastructure preparation, the full business case and main building construction are separate milestones.[1][2][3]
Current position
Hybrid planning was approved on 9 June 2026. Main works are expected in summer 2028, with the new hospital planned to open in FY 2032/33, subject to programme approvals.
