Sheffield Forgemasters recapitalisation
A £1.3 billion investment programme to modernise Sheffield Forgemasters for defence and advanced manufacturing. Construction includes a new heavy forge with a 13,000-tonne press north of Brightside Lane and a separate machine shop on Weedon Street. The map anchors the actual forge plot; both facilities remain one programme.[1][2][3]
Current position
The new machine shop topped out in July 2026; forge steelwork assembly began in May 2026. The £1.3bn recapitalisation programme continues.
