SSE’s Ferrybridge battery reuses the site of a former coal-fired power station in West Yorkshire to store and release electricity.[1]

Current position

SSE confirmed full operation on 20 March 2026 after construction began in August 2023.

150 MW / 300 MWh: up to two hours of discharge at full power, helping balance the grid.
