Chickerell Storage
Statera Energy plans to build a 400-megawatt battery storage facility at East Chickerell Court Farm in Dorset. The project has planning consent and would connect to the nearby National Grid substation. It would store electricity for later use, helping the network respond when renewable generation and demand change.[1][2]
Benefits
- The batteries would charge when electricity is plentiful and release it when demand rises or wind and solar output falls.
- Plans set aside more than ten hectares for landscaping and habitat creation, including woodland, wetland and wildflower grassland, alongside improvements to local public rights of way.
