Trafford Green Hydrogen

Trafford Green Hydrogen is Carlton Power and Schroders Greencoat’s planned electrolytic hydrogen facility at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park. The wider consent allows up to 200MW; it is intended to be developed in phases.[1][2]

Current position

The 31 March 2026 supply announcement identifies an industrial customer. Plant construction and hydrogen delivery have not been verified.

Project details

  • Carlton describes a 15MW initial phase. The government’s HAR1 award table lists 10.5MW for Trafford; these are different published scopes, not operating output.
  • An agreement announced in March 2026 provides for hydrogen supply to Wienerberger’s Denton brickworks by tube trailer. The customer’s planned fuel conversion is targeted for autumn 2028.
  • The hydrogen scheme occupies part of Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park. The approximate pin uses the official reference for the later reserved-matters application.
