Whitebirk is Field’s grid-scale battery near Blackburn in Lancashire.[1]
Current position
Field announced on 13 March 2026 that Whitebirk had entered commercial operation following energisation at the beginning of March.
Benefits
- The battery has 25 MW of power capacity and stores 50 MWh of energy. It uses Field’s Gaia platform to optimise charging and discharging.
