The 690,000-square-foot hub receives frequently ordered goods from suppliers and redistributes them to around 20 fulfilment centres across the country, where customer orders are assembled. The site is designed to hold up to 16 million items and distribute up to five million items per week.
Equipment includes computer-vision checks on incoming pallets and powered industrial handling vehicles. Around 400 people worked at the facility at opening, with recruitment expected to increase staffing towards 1,400.
