Government selects Bradford Interchange for new Northern Powerhouse Rail station

The government has selected the existing Bradford Interchange site for the city’s planned Northern Powerhouse Rail station, settling the location after alternatives were assessed.

A replacement station was already included in the government’s plans earlier in 2026. The October decision establishes where it would be built; the business case, detailed design and station-specific construction budget remain to be settled.

Delivery is envisaged in the 2030s. No construction start has been announced.
